Port of embarkation
The designation of Cartagena as a port of embarkation since 2008 shows the trust cruise lines have placed on the Port of Cartagena Group. Since then, internationally recognized lines such as Royal Caribbean, Pullmantur, Variety Cruises, and Azuka have used these services.
In response to the increased interest in Cartagena and Colombia as tourist destinations in the last decade, the Cartagena de Indias Cruise Terminal was adapted to high international standards to meet both shippers and passengers’ needs.
The terminal has gained strength as a port of embarkation not only for Colombians, but for the entire Latin American market. Currently, it is a departure point for cruises with itineraries in the Caribbean that do not require a visa, making it one of the most attractive advantages for travelers.
Additionally, between December 2023 and April 2024, the Royal Caribbean cruise line, after a nine-year absence, will resume operations from the Port of Cartagena. The local port was included by Royal Caribbean in the 'Around Latin America,' which will be carried out by its cruise ship Rhapsody of the Seas, in an adventurous itinerary to the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Panama Canal. This cruise stands out because it does not require cruise passengers to have a U.S. visa, as is the case with the other itineraries.
